An Everett man driving a semi truck in east Blaine was booked into Whatcom County jail last Thursday night after driving his rig into a ditch while allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

Whatcom County sheriff’s deputies arrested Nikolay V. Krot, 44, after a breathalyzer test at the scene of the accident revealed his blood alcohol level was four times the legal limit for driving a commercial vehicle, sheriff’s deputy Larry Flynn said.
Krot was arrested after he drove his semi truck cab into a ditch in the 9400 block of Valley View Road, just south of the intersection with H Street Road.

Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene after Border Patrol agents alerted them to the accident, which occurred at about 9:45 p.m. on August 18.

Krot, who was uninjured, was booked under suspicion of operating a commercial vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Krot’s semi was impounded.
