Pedestrian injured in hit and run

A 20-year-old Blaine resident was injured over the weekend after being struck by a car on Drayton Harbor Road north of Birch Bay.

Randall P. McCoy, 20, was walking on the north side of Drayton Harbor Road just west of the California Creek bridge at 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 11, when a  car traveling west drifted off the road and struck him.

The driver of the vehicle, whose identity was not known, then drove off, according to the Washington State Patrol.

McCoy was transported to St. Joseph Medical Center with critical injuries, and his condition was reported as satisfactory as of Tuesday, September 13.

State troopers are investigating the crash.
