Port of Bellingham commissioners will begin a work-study session at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, with a tour of the Blaine industrial area. The public is welcome to join in the tour, which will begin at the public parking area just before the Blaine public pier at the end of Marine Drive.
The work-study session will move to the Blaine Boating Center at 235 Marine Drive at 3 p.m., where staff will present additional information about the Blaine projects.
The Port is preparing a professional services agreement for the first phase of the Blaine industrial area planning and analysis project, which the commission will consider at its October 4 business meeting.
“Before voting on this contract, it will be helpful for the commission to tour the property and really understand the concerns and opportunities for the Blaine industrial area,” said port commissioner Jim Jorgensen, who lives in Blaine. “We are inviting community members to join us on the tour and at the commission meeting afterward.”
The meeting will also include an update on the project to widen and upgrade a section of Marine Drive and an update on the 2012 strategic budget.
