It’s almost time for the fifth annual scarecrow competition, and Blaine businesses and residents are invited to make Blaine beautiful for the fall season by decorating their windows or storefronts with scarecrows from October 7 through Halloween.

Clubs, organizations and businesses with no storefront will be provided a location for their display. The scarecrows must be displayed by October 7 and will be judged on October 8. The business winner will receive a free ad in The Northern Light.

Saturday, October 8 is also the Harvest Party Day at the Blaine Gardeners Market with pumpkin carving, music, refreshments, prize drawings along with farm produce and crafts.

Register soon – the scarecrows will be listed on a map that will be available to the public, and the Scarecrow Tour will be listed on event pages throughout the county. To register, sign up at the Blaine Visitor Center at 728 Peace Portal Drive, call 360/332-4544 or email
