As part of Operation Tooth Fairy, Blaine Elementary School physical education teacher Dan Persse, with student Lyric Lamon, sports a pair of wings. Persse once again challenged students to beat his weight in Halloween candy, and they topped it again – by half a pound! If they accomplished the goal, Persse promised to dress up as the tooth fairy.

More than 460 students brought in 235 pounds of candy, which will be delivered to the Sea-Tac USO on Thursday, November 10, where it will bring “sweet relief” to troops in transit. The majority of the candy will be sent through the USO to troops serving overseas. In 2010, students brought in 264 pounds of Halloween candy.
