Swank, a new beauty salon offering upscale options at reasonable prices, is holding an open house on March 3.

Owner Tain Schroeder opened the doors on November 3. Schroeder is a Blaine native, although she began her styling career in Seattle.

She is happy to be back in Blaine to raise her children and to enjoy life in a close-knit community.

“It’s great to open a business here,” Schroeder said. “The community is so supportive, and I love having the opportunity to really know my clients.”

Schroeder decided to open Swank after noticing that many Blaine locals travel out of town to get their hair done.
“Residents in Blaine need a place to get a great haircut without paying $50,” she said. Although the services, atmosphere and customer care at Swank are comparable to more expensive salons, the prices are among the most reasonable in Whatcom County.

Swank offers cuts, colors, foils, perms, facial waxing and styling in a warm, kid-friendly environment.

The salon will hold an open house on March 3 from 3 to 6 p.m., with drawings for products and gift certificates.
