Blaine’s sixth annual scarecrow competition and tour is starting soon, and businesses and residents are encouraged to help dress up the town for fall by designing scarecrows for their storefronts or windows from October 13 until after Halloween. Businesses and organizations without a storefront are encouraged to participate and will be provided a location to decorate.
The scarecrows must be in place by Saturday, October 13, and will be judged on October 14. The winner will be given a free ad in The Northern Light.
October 13 is also Market Harvest Day at Blaine Gardeners Market, where the usual produce and crafts vendors will be joined by musicians, Northwest Park and Recreation will be doing pumpkin carving, and there will be prize drawings. A self-guided tour of the scarecrows will be open to locals and visitors alike, with a scarecrow map available at the Blaine Visitor Center.
Register by October 6 to put your scarecrow on the map. To register, stop by the Blaine Visitor Center at 728 Peace Portal Drive, call 360/322-4544 or email email@example.com.
