A long stretch of warm, dry weather has prompted Gov. Chris Gregoire to extend the state’s emergency burn ban to include all counties in Washington state.
The burn ban took effect Monday, October 8 in Whatcom County, and will continue until further notice. The statewide burn ban ends at midnight on October 15.
All outdoor burning is prohibited, including yard and land clearing as well as recreational fires. The minimum fine for violations is $250.
