Blaine's Arts & Jazz night a hit

The 16th annual Arts & Jazz festival raised more than $9,200 in funds to support the arts in the Blaine School District this year. “It’s wonderful and amazing,” organizer Dorita Gray said. “It was one of our smallest auctions in a long time, and we only had 138 items, but people overbid on items, including those in the live auction,” she said.
The event was well attended, and featured the work of student musicians and artists throughout the night.
Gray was impressed with the turnout that packed the middle school cafeteria on January 26. “We learned that Blaine has a great school and the school has a great community supporting it. It was a really nice evening all in all,” she said.
Student Jessica Wheeler was awarded “Artist of Note,” and Seaside Bakery and Cafe owner Sylva Gore was named as the 2013 “Friend of the Arts” by the Blaine Fine Arts Association.
