Now that we are in February we like to think of other things besides the rain, the wet and the cold. February seems to be centered around St. Valentine’s Day, when we are reminded to love and care for ourselves and others. Blaine Senior Center is alive with exciting and interesting things to do, learn and see.
It gives opportunities to be active and to reach out to others. Many services are provided to help seniors be as active, healthy, happy and independent as possible.
Nourishing meals are served Monday through Friday. Just glancing at the choices can be a mouth-watering experience.
The entrees include Italian veggies, mashed potatoes and gravy, Swiss steak, wild rice pilaf, sweet and sour chicken, barbeque pork ribs, sweet and sour meatballs, pot roast, delicious soup, pizza, chicken and dumplings, turkey divan, deli sandwiches, beef Stroganoff, baked squash and baked cod.
Monday, February 11, noon: Chinese New Year celebration. Sandy Brewer will share knowledge of Tai Chi.
Thursday, February 14, noon: Sweetheart’s day with Dennis Sakowski. Dennis will serenade you with romantic songs.
Saturday, February 16, 8 a.m.: Pancake breakfast. Choose from pancakes, waffles, French toast or biscuits and gravy. Scrambled eggs, sausage, coffee, tea and orange juice are included. Adults $6, children $4.
Monday, February 18, noon: Celebrate Mardi Gras! Bob Storms’ Dixieland All-Stars and potluck.
