How quickly summer is slipping from us! We have had days of bright sunshine and brilliant flowers, of lush growing gardens, outdoor picnics and the delightful pleasure of friends and fellowship at our Blaine Senior Center.

Now with a refreshing chill in the air to greet us each morning, summer’s storehouse of memory treasures is now entrusted to us. Throughout the coming autumn storms, we have memories, friends, food and fellowship to keep us warm.

The changing of seasons brings a renewal of opportunities, friendships and learning. Here are some of the events at the center:

On Thursdays, September 5 and 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. there will be Mending and Button Repair classes by Lisa Sherwood. This will not include tailoring, but features small jobs. This class is free, however, donations will be accepted and applied towards Blaine Senior Center crafts. Classes will meet the third Thursday of each month.

Fridays, September 6, 13 and 20, at 12:30 p.m., play bingo. This is a very popular activity, and lots of fun. Be a member to play! (Donated prizes are welcome.)

Tuesdays, September 10 and 24, 9–11:30 a.m., Foot Care Professional Services. Schedule an appointment with Connie Webster, RN. Sign up at the front desk.

Snoqualmie Falls has been a sacred site to the Pacific Northwest’s native people, a place whose thundering waters harbor deep spiritual power. Tuesday, September 17, noon, What a Library Card Will Do for Me – the ABCs. Debby Farmer, Blaine branch manager of the Whatcom County Library System, will bring us the news about what is happening at the Blaine Library. She will explain what resources can be used and what the library system has to offer. Come learn about this awesome resource.
