Blaine and Birch Bay residents are invited to come enjoy a slice of pizza, get to know their current port commissioner and hear about the work that the Port of Bellingham is doing around the county.
Port of Bellingham commissioner Michael McAuley will host a meet and greet event from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11, at Pizza Factory located at 738 Peace Portal Drive in Blaine.
Those who attend will be invited to join in an informal question and answer session and enjoy a slice of pizza and a beverage.
The meet and greet is part of a series of informal events at local establishments in rural Whatcom County to connect with voters and answer questions about the port’s role in county-wide economic development as part of McAuley’s re-election campaign.
McAuley has also scheduled another north county event in Birch Bay at Bay Cafe (7608 Birch Bay Drive) on Monday, September 16 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
The port, apart from its transportation functions and infrastructure, is the only agency charged with fostering economic development and job creation in Whatcom County.
McAuley was first elected to the Port of Bellingham’s district 2 seat in 2009 and is up for election in this November’s general election.
