The Volunteer Chore Program is seeking individuals 18 and older to volunteer their time and vehicle to provide transportation to Whatcom County veterans with limited income to essential appointments, such as medical appointments or grocery shopping.

These services are intended to fill the gap for low-income veterans who are unable to access transportation due to scheduling conflicts, lack of a social support network, or geographical location.

The pairing of the veterans with trained volunteers or fellow veterans provides a one-on-one help network, resulting in fewer missed appointments and increased independence. Volunteers work on a flexible schedule and mileage reimbursement is available.

If you would like to volunteer and help those who have honorably served our country, contact Aly Horry, volunteer chore program director, at 360/734-3055. If you are a veteran and interested in services, please contact the Whatcom County Veterans Assistance Office at 360/715-7453.
