  • Have a safety plan; make sure children know their home phone number and how to call 911.
  • Always have a parent or responsible adult accompany small children.
  • Lighting for everyone. Flashlights, glow sticks and reflective tape on costumes.
  • Lighting for everyone. Flashlights, glow sticks and reflective tape on costumes. (Yep, we said it twice, because it’s that important.)
  • Only visit homes with a porch light on.
  • Wear makeup or a hat instead of a mask that could limit visibility.
  • Exercise caution when crossing the street; only use established crosswalks and assume drivers do not see you.
  • Examine all treats before eating; never eat an open or unwrapped treat from someone you don’t know.
  • Never enter a stranger’s car or home for a treat.
