Have you thought about planning for the future?

Local attorney Katti Esp, who recently received certification as an estate planning law specialist, is teaching a class on Tuesdays, February 4 and 11 regarding estate planning and probate issues.

Esp, who is also principal of Wealth Retention Services, will be joined by Kevin DeYoung, a CPA with Larson Gross, for the classes in Bellingham entitled “Wills and Estate Planning: An Introduction.” The course covers an introduction to wills, revocable living trusts, community property agreements and durable powers of attorney.

Esp has practiced law in Bellingham since 1996, focusing her practice on designing and implementing individualized estate plans and assisting clients with the probate process. She earned the estate planning law specialist certification by passing a comprehensive examination in estate planning law, devoting at least a third of her practice to estate planning for a minimum of five years and receiving recommendations from five colleagues. Esp also has a Master of Laws (LL.M) degree in taxation.

“Wills and Estate Planning: An Introduction” will be presented from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Whatcom Community College in Bellingham. The fee is $59; a second family member can attend for only $10. To register, call 360/383-3200 or visit whatcomcommunityed.com.
