If you’re a Blaine resident with strong opinions about the look of the town, Joyce Vanderpol has a unique question for you.

Vanderpol, the owner of Vanderpol Realty on H Street, is looking for suggestions about what to build on her recently acquired property at 432 H Street. The 75’ x 130’ lot sits just to the east of Washington Federal Bank, right before the H Street bridge. Vanderpol acquired the property at the beginning of the year and demolished the house that once occupied the lot.

“We were initially going to remodel, but it just needed far too much work,” Vanderpol said. “I wasn’t quite sure what to do with it after that, but it’s always great to reach out to the community to see what’s wanted.”

Vanderpol has been in the real estate business for more than 30 years, but she’s never reached out to the community like this before. While she has her own ideas for what the property can be used for, she is opening up her business for ideas and will take realistic suggestions seriously.

Vanderpol hasn’t set a time limit for suggestions, but she is hoping to start developing the project this year, possibly even this summer.
