Hope proves dead end for murder suspect
The cross-border manhunt for former Point Roberts resident Ryan Jenkins ended Sunday with the discovery of his body in the Thunderbird Motel in Hope, B.C. Jenkins had been sought by police from California to Canada after his ex-wife’s defaced body was discovered Saturday, August 15 in a Los Angeles dumpster.

The city of Blaine will hold an open house on Thursday, August 6 to publicly present the next step in the Semiahmoo Resort’s development plans.

State officials have confirmed that sculptures at Peace Arch Park must be removed before the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. The statement comes after the United States Canada Peace Anniversary Association’s (USCPAA) application to extend the International Sculpture Exhibition to a year was denied.

Toddler drowns in backyard pool
Ava Bock, an 18-month-old girl drowned Tuesday morning at her Boundary Court home in Blaine after climbing into the family swimming pool. She was found unconscious approximately ten minutes later by a family member. The pool is four feet high and ten feet in diameter, said Lisa Moeller, public information officer for the Blaine police department. It has a small ladder on the side.
