Vera Dolores Williams passed away Saturday evening, January 30, 2012, at Oak Valley Hospital in Oakdale, CA where she had been living the past three years. Her death was caused by complications related to COPD. At the time, Vera was two days shy of celebrating her 85th birthday.
She was born in Turlock, CA, the daughter of Harry and Mary Ann Carter. She met and married the love of her life, John E. Williams after moving to Oakdale. They celebrated fifty-five years together living in many different places in the world i.e., France, England and around this country while they both worked at establishing turkey farming. John E. Williams passed away 3 years ago and also preceding her in death were her parents, Mary and Harry Carter, and one sister, Ethel May Harrop.
The Williams spent their happiest years as residents of the Village in Birch Bay, WA, participating in the boating, golfing, bridge/ladies and art club before relocating to Bellingham.
Vera is survived by her son, Steve Williams (Gail), OK, grandson John Williams (Kristi) of CA, granddaughter Stephanee Williams (Mark) of OK, seven great grandchildren and several in-laws residing in Florida and Alabama.
At Vera’s request there will be no service. However, a private family memorial will be held at a later date to honor her and Johnny’s wishes for their ashes to be scattered in the Pacific Ocean where they had spent so many years enjoying life. She was such a devoted wife; we know they’re happy to be eternally together again.
The family requests that memorial be made to the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Ste. 800, Washington, DC, 20004.
