Jim passed away this week after an eight year battle with Parkinsons/Multiple Systems Atrophy. He is survived by his wife, Susan O’Malley, his two daughters, Rebecca and Erin Fetridge, his son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Pam MacFetridge and their two sons, Aidan and Campbell.
Jim grew up in southern California in South Pasadena and Lancaster. He served in the Seabees in Vietnam and later moved to Washington, living in Issaquah and later in Seattle. In order to accommodate Jim’s declining mobility, the family moved to Blaine in 2008. He was the owner/publisher of the Automotive Index, a vehicle identification book created by his grandfather in 1922 originally as a means for car salesmen to identify automobiles for resale.
After returning from Vietnam, Jim took over management of the company until its sale in 2005. His working career also included Cascade Mountain Ski, commercial real estate leasing with First Western Properties and Membership Coordinator at the Pacific Science Center. He was active in the St. Joseph School and Church community.
His family would like to thank his doctors at Virginia Medical Center in Seattle for their exceptional care and the staff at Christian Health Care Center in Lynden who cared for him during the final two years of his life.
He will be buried in the Veterans cemetery at Evergreen Washelli in Seattle. Notes of remembrances can be sent to his family in Blaine.
