POLICE REPORTS
June
9: Report of a missing juvenile in the 1400 block of Bayview.
An officer located the 14-year-old and returned the youth
to a parent.
June 9: A person entering the US from Canada was found to
have the wrong license plates on his car. Further investigation
showed he was the victim of a theft which occurred in Seattle.
A report will be filed with Seattle PD.
June 9: Officers responded to a vehicle fire at I-5,exit
#273, northbound. The fire was minor and resulted in little
damage and no injuries. Officers assisted with traffic control.
June 9: Officers investigated a burglary at a business in
the 900 block of Boblett. Burglars cut a chain and entered
a storage unit and removed several hundred dollars in equipment
from a boat stored in another unit. Under investigation.
June 9: A resident in the 600 block of 12th Street reported
he was the victim of an internet crime and his credit card
was billed for $30.95 without his consent. The resident
said his credit card provider will look into the theft.
June 9: A senior citizen reported that someone took his
bicycle and left him stranded. A Blaine officer drove the
resident home. Officers were able to locate the bike, another
citizen had mistakenly thought it was abandoned.
June 8: Officer was advised of a highly intoxicated person
causing problems in the 400 block of Peace Portal Drive.
Suspect was located and found to have a Blaine warrant.
Suspect was arrested and processed on the warrant.
June 8: A person in the 1400 block of Bayview reported her
daughter as a runaway. All information was taken and entered
into NCIC. The girl was believed to be in the Birch Bay
area. She was located in Birch Bay by WCSO.
June 8: A Blaine reserve officer stopped a motorist in the
600 block of H Street for a traffic violation and discovered
four very intoxicated men and an open container of beer.
Three men were arrested for liquor-related charges and two
of the men were booked.
June 8: A parent in the 500 block of Cedar Street requested
that an officer speak to her 15-year-old daughter about
consuming alcohol.
June 8: Officers responded to an alarm at a business in
the 700 block of Peace Portal. Upon meeting with the contact
person, officers discovered that the alarm was tripped
by a balloon in front of the motion sensor.
June 7: Report of a theft of clothing in the 600 block of
A Street. It was found that a charity business had accidently
picked up the wrong clothing. The complainant will follow
up on the incident. No crime intended or committed.
June 7: Officer was contacted by a person who said someone
illegally changed their address to another address in an
attempt to get their mail. Case is under investigation.
June 7: Blaine officers assisted WCSO with a possible burglary
in progress in the 4100 block of Sweet Road. Officers arrested
a man who was trespassing on the property for an outstanding
felony warrant. The suspect was booked into Whatcom County
Jail.
June 7: A person sought assistance at the police department
and was given a ride to Bellingham for a voluntary mental
commitment.
June 7: An officer cited a driver for speeding and discovered
the mans driving privilege had been suspended in Washington
for an unpaid ticket. A criminal traffic citation summons
was prepared for service by mail for DWL/R 3rd.
June 7: Officers received a call advising of a suspicious
juvenile walking from door to door looking for a place to
sleep. Officers checked the area and found no juvenile.
Officers received no further complaints.
June 6: Officer was on patrol in the 1700 block of H Street
when he saw a young teenager sitting in a car smoking a
cigarette. The 24-year-old driver committed a traffic violation.
The car was stopped and the driver was cited for furnishing
tobacco to the 14-year-old.
June 6: Dispatch reported the fire department was en route
to assist a person who overdosed on medication in the 400
block of Boblett Street. Officer assisted while the department
treated the teenage patient, who took an overdose of ibuprofen
because her boyfriend broke up with her.
June 6: A teenager reported hearing second hand that another
teen had threatened to hurt them. Under investigation.
June 6: A woman called to request help in handling an issue
regarding her children. The children were sent to stay with
their grandmother. The mother now wants them returned and
the grandmother is refusing. Mother was advised of her options.
June 6: Officers responded to a house alarm in the 9000
block of Aerie Lane. An officer observed a pet bird flying
inside the house. The house was otherwise secure. A false
alarm notification will be mailed to the home owner.
June 6: A concerned citizen reported observing water running
out of the window of a vacant apartment in the 1500 block
of Mitchell Street. The incident will be referred to the
city building inspector.
June 5: Officer was advised of a missing person who lives
in Blaine. The last time he was heard from he was in Salem,
Oregon. The report was forwarded to authorities in Oregon.
June 5: A local business in the 800 block of Harrison reported
having received a counterfeit $20 bill. The bill was determined
to be counterfeit. The bill was impounded and the case was
forwarded to the U.S. Secret Service.
June 5: Officer responded to the 100 block of SR543 regarding
a semi-truck leaking diesel fuel. Officer located the truck
and advised the fire department. The fire department responded
and handled the small spill.
June 5: Officer received an anonymous call regarding a male
subject seen hanging upside down from the Mitchell Street
bridge. Officers located a group of boys who were shooting
a video. They were given stern warnings and sent home.
June 4: Officer was called to the school for a student who
was in possession of marijuana and had attempted to sell
it on campus. The student was also accused of threatening
another student. Student was arrested and booked.
June 4: Police office assisted a Canadian immigration agent
by providing him with criminal history on a subject he was
investigating.
June 4: An officer assisted a motorist who locked herself
out of her vehicle by providing her with a tool to open
the door. The motorist unlocked her car.
June 4: A motorist pointed out two people near a vehicle
in the 1700 block of H Street who were acting suspicious.
The people were contacted and identified. A field contact
report was completed.
June 4: Officer responded to a 911 hang up at a resident
in the 800 block of Odell Road. During the course of the
investigation, one subject was found to have warrants. He
was arrested and booked into Whatcom County Jail.
June 3: A vehicle was stopped in the 800 block of H Street
after an officer observed four subjects seated in the cab
of a pick-up truck. Officer found the driver was DWLS 3rd
and in violation of a protection order. Subject processed
and released. Car towed.
June 3: Officer was contacted by a school employee who stated
he had observed a student throwing litter from a vehicle
in the school zone. Contact was made with the student and
she was given a stern warning. .
