February
17: Blaine police were asked to assist the Washington
state patrol by checking on a reported accident on the freeway
north of MP 275. A driver who was driving southbound in
the northbound lanes forced a northbound driver to swerve
out of control in order to avoid a collision. There were
no injuries.
February 17: A citizen reported an irate resident
in the 500 block of Cedar Street yelling and cursing, possibly
at another person in the back yard. Officers contacted the
subject and found he had been yelling at his dog that was
fenced in the backyard.
February 16: A citizen reported a strange man attempting
to break into the front door of her residence in the 900
block of Peace Portal Drive. Officers found an extremely
intoxicated male who believed he was attempting to enter
his home in Maple Falls.
February 15: Officer stopped a vehicle for failing
to stop at a stop sign in the 200 block of H Street and
discovered the driver to be DWLS/R3rd and to have one felony
and two misdemeanor arrest warrants. The man was booked
into the Whatcom County jail. The vehicle was impounded.
February 15: Officer stopped a motor vehicle for
a traffic violation in the 4000 block of Vista Avenue. Officer
determined the adult female driver had furnished alcohol
to the two teenage boys who were also in the vehicle. The
drivers fiancee was later arrested for also furnishing
alcohol to the boys. The two 17-year-olds boys were arrested
for illegal possession of liquor by consumption.
February 14: Officer stopped a vehicle for an equipment
violation and discovered the driver to be DWLS/3rd and to
have an outstanding arrest warrant. The driver was arrested
and released with a mandatory court appearance. The warrant
was not served due to jail overcrowding. The vehicle was
impounded.
February 13: A school official reported catching
a 14-year-old male subject with a marijuana pipe. Officer
located marijuana hidden in a pen. Suspect was arrested
for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana
with intent to deliver and obstructing a police officer.
Juvenile arrestee was booked into jail.
February 13: U.S. Immigration requested police assistance
with a subject refusing to leave the building. The subject
had been deported to the U.S. from Canada. Subject refused
to leave port property and was subsequently arrested for
trespassing. The subject refused to sign his citation and
was booked into Whatcom County jail.
January 13: A 13-year-old female reported that a
13-year-old male spit on her on the way home from school.
A Blaine officer spoke with the boys mother, and the
two families met to discuss the incident. The young boy
admitted to pretending to spit on the female as a joke.
A witness confirmed his story. The boy apologized, and no
further police action was requested.
