POLICE REPORTS
May 9:
US Customs reported they were questioning a male
subject who had 19 grams of marijuana in his possession.
Officer arrived and arrested the subject for being in possession
of marijuana under 40 grams. The subject was later released
after he signed his criminal citation.

9:
A resident in the 400 block of 10th Street reported
she was awakened by a tapping sound on her daughter’s
window and observed a 14-year-old female who wanted her
daughter to come out and play. Mom called the police
and asked the child be contacted, trespassed and taken
home. Officers called the mother of the 14-year-old, and
discovered the child had not been home for two days but
had not been reported missing. Officers located the child
at a friend’s
house in Birch Bay. She was returned home without incident.
CPS will be notified.

8:
An officer assisted a WCSO deputy who apprehended
a possible wanted felon who refused to give his true
name. The officer received a faxed photo from the jail
and transported it to the deputy. The suspect was shown
his picture and confirmed his identity. The deputy booked
the suspect for felony and misdemeanor charges at Whatcom
County jail.

Officers went to the Peace Arch border crossing to
speak to a driver who did not have a license. He was
warned about the consequences for driving without a license
and released.

Officers responded to an aid call in the 1300 block
of H Street to assist fire fighters. A subject had hurt
himself riding his bicycle and was not cooperating with
the aid units. Officers stood by until he was transported
for head injuries.

7:
An officer arrested a 13-year-old female for distribution
of prescription medication to other juveniles. The girl
was booked into Juvenile Detention.

A resident complained about two juveniles who set
off fireworks on his property in the 1600 block of Bayview
Avenue. Officers investigated the incident and contacted
two 13-year-old boys who admitted lighting four firecrackers
which they found. Written warning notices were completed,
the boys’ parents were notified, and the children
were directed by their parents to return home
immediately.

6:
A citizen in the 700 block of Peace Portal Drive reported
receiving harassing phone calls from an ex-boyfriend.
The citizen just wanted the other party contacted and
told to discontinue attempts at contact.

An officer stopped a motor vehicle in the 700 block
of SR-543 for a traffic violation. A subsequent investigation
revealed the driver was driving on a suspended driver’s
license. A search of the subject resulted
in the seizure of methamphetamine. The individual was
booked into the Whatcom County jail pending formal
charges of possession of a controlled substance and driving
while license suspended/revoked 3rd.

4:
Officers responded to a report of a small child locked
in a bedroom in the 700 block of Elm Street. The fire
department was also responding. The child had gone into
her bedroom to play and somehow managed to
lock the door. The fire department climbed
onto the roof and were able to enter the
room through an unlocked window. The child
was very happy to see her mother. The mother
is going to change the lock so this can not
happen again.
