POLICE REPORTS
May 17:
Complainant in the 300 block of D Street reported
a customer took his vehicle back without paying for mechanical
service which had been performed on it. Case under investigation.

17:
A passerby reported hearing a man and woman yelling
in the 200 block of H Street in what sounded like a fight.
Officer arrived and met with the people in the apartment.
Officer determined the father and mother were just playing
loudly with their kids and no argument or fight was occurring.

16:
An officer was asked to check on the welfare of an
elderly man in the 1100 block of Mitchell Street after
a four-year-old riding a tricycle had knocked him off
his feet. The man’s relatives decided to transport
him to the hospital for an examination due to his age and
previous medical problems.

16:
Officers responded to a call of a woman lying in
the roadway in the 400 block of Peace Portal Drive. The
woman was gone upon officers’ arrival.
A witness informed officers that the woman had walked
away. Officers checked the area, but the woman was not
located.

15:
Officers were dispatched to a group of teens using
foul language in a residential neighborhood. Two teenagers
were contacted, and it was discovered that one of the
teens was using abusive language over a relationship
issue with a boyfriend. A verbal warning was issued for
disorderly conduct.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute in the 600
block of D Street. Upon arriving, the altercation was
found to have been verbal only. However one of the people
involved had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He
was taken into custody and booked into the Whatcom County
Jail without incident.

14:
An officer was asked to contact a man who was loitering
on a street corner on Odell and Sweet roads, in an industrial
area at 3 a.m. The officer found a resident who was out
for a walk and was talking on a cell phone. The man did
not need any assistance.

While on school zone patrol an officer was contacted
by two young men who requested assistance in getting
home to Birch Bay. They related that they had been kicked
off the school bus and had no other way to get home.
The youths were taken home, and the school district superintendent
was made aware of the situation.

13:
A person called police because she observed a juvenile
driving his motor scooter in the 1700 block of H Street
in what she felt was a dangerous manner. An officer spoke
to the juvenile who agreed to ride in a safer manner.
May
12:
Officers responded to a possible physical domestic
dispute at a residence in the 300 block of Alder Street.
Officer arrived and heard arguing between a male and
female, as well as loud music playing. Contact was
made with the occupants and it was determined that
both parties were just arguing. The individuals were
warned to quiet down. No crime.

12:
Report of construction noise intruding onto private
residential property after 7 p.m. in the 200 block of
G Street. An officer contacted the construction workers.
The owner of the construction business was provided a
copy of the city ordinance, reference construction noise.
The business owner was polite and cooperative, and he
said he would pick up his tools and call it a day.
