The 15th annual Blaine Arts and Jazz Auction and Dance raised just more than $11,000 for arts education at Blaine High School.

The Northwest Park and Recreation District 2 hosted a health and fitness fair Saturday at the Birch Bay Activity Center.

Snowfall and frigid temperatures may have created dicey road conditions in Blaine and Birch Bay, but made for snowy fun and lovely winter scenes for many locals.

Blaine High School students collected just more than $2,700 for the American Cancer Society, the third-highest total in the fundraiser's seven-year history.

Locals welcomed 2012 with a bracing dip in Birch Bay during the Birch Bay Chamber of Commerce’s annual Polar Bear Plunge, co-sponsored by Birch Bay Waterslides.
