Borderite girls defeated in 63-40 loss to Ferndale

The Borderite girls basketball team went down to defeat against Ferndale on Tuesday, January 19 in a lop-sided 63-40 loss.

The Golden Eagles seized the lead early and kept it for all four quarters. Stefawn Perrin was Blaine’s lead scorer with 24 points followed by Jordan Oldham’s 4, 2 each from Lauren Cummings, Alex Hendricks-Hockey, Korynn Hudson, Libby Moore, Cassy Richardson and 1 each from Amber Johnson and Payton Steinbach.

Despite the disparity in baskets, stats otherwise were much closer: Blaine kept close to Ferndale in rebounds (32 versus 38) and avoided needless fouls (12 against Ferndale’s 19).

The girls play at home against Sehome on Thursday night followed by Squalicum on the 26.

Boys basketball play at Sehome on Friday night (JV at 5:45/V at 7:30) and at Squalicum on Monday, January 25.
The wrestling team was competing at Squalicum on Wednesday, January 20th in the NWC qualifiers.
