Blaine girls win first in tennis, then fall to MV

The girl’s doubles teams continue to lead the Borderites as both teams won their matches to help Blaine win their first in the Northwest conference, 4-3 over Anacortes in Blaine, April 12.

Number one doubles team, Hanna Raine and Joanna Hubbard and number two team, Martel Hesketh and Bethany Dahl swept their doubles matches. Borderite ace Katey Conway won her first of the season and Emily Kendell at number four won her singles match, for the deciding victory.

The Hesketh/Dahl team won again on April 15 against Mount Vernon, defeating Emily Mattson and Kailyn Morse in three sets, 6-3, 1-6, 6-1.

The Bulldog girls edged the Borderites 4-3 at Blaine. Also winning for Blaine was Aubrie Hagen 6-3, 6-4 and Nayomi Landis rallied to win a marathon three set match against Mount Vernon’s Alayna Biladeau, 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 (8).
