Ryan Diggs scored 26 points and Jacob Stevenson chipped in 21 as Rob Ridnour’s Bellingham Slam cruised into the IBL Championship game with a remarkably easy 136-105 win over the Yamhill Highflyers. The victory means that the Slam will be attempting to win their second IBL championship under Ridnour’s tutelage. The Slam (15-7) will travel to Albany, New York to face the Albany Legends Friday, July 16 at the Washington Avenue Armory. Being higher seeded gave the Legends a home court advantage.
Derrik Webb stroked a three pointer at the first quarter buzzer as part of a Bellingham 18-4 run to stretch the Slam lead to 11 at 39-28. That would be the closest the score would be as Bellingham stretched the lead to 20 at halftime, closing the first half with a 7-0 spurt. An insurmountable 30 point fourth quarter lead allowed to Ridnour to empty his bench and give them valuable playoff experience going into the championship game.
