Blaine sends eight wrestlers to state tourney

After a strong finish at regional competition in Bellingham, the Blaine wrestling team will send six wrestlers and two alternates to the state wrestling tournament in Tacoma.

Blaine sophomore Kyle Gonzales will compete at state in the 106-pound weight class, while junior Justin Belding will wrestle at 138. Senior Shaypher Hendricks will compete in the 145-pound class, and junior Caleb Johnson and sophomore Mike Antczak will wrestle at state in the 195 and 285 classes, respectively.

Blaine wrestling will also send a female wrestler to state with 118-pound freshman Olivia Adams. The Borderites will also send 106-pound freshman Billy Dodd and 220-pound senior Sean Chase as alternates.

The Mat Classic XXII wrestling tournament will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 18 and run until the afternoon of Sunday, February 19 at the Tacoma Dome.
