Nasty weather put a halt to all but a few games on the Borderite schedule in the past week. The track teams provided a highlight in an otherwise loss-filled week, with both the boys and girls taking home wins against Lynden on Thursday, March 29.

Boys’ soccer

The Blaine boys’ soccer team suffered two defeats this week and didn’t score any goals either. The boys went into spring break with a 4-0 loss to Lynden Christian at home on March 28 and a 5-0 loss at Anacortes on March 30. The team’s next game is April 10 at home against Sehome.

Boys’ baseball

The Borderites baseball team played only one of its four originally scheduled games this week, and the boys lost that game 9-0 on March 28 at Ferndale. Games scheduled for March 30 and 31 were all cancelled due to severe weather. The makeup games have been rescheduled for April 4 against Nooksack Valley, April 9 against Burlington-Edison and April 14 against Lakewood, all at home. The boys will also face Cashmere at home on April 6.

Girl’s tennis

Both tennis matches have been cancelled this week for the Borderites. The March 28 match against Squalicum has been rescheduled for April 10 at home. The home match against Friday Harbor has been rescheduled for a time to be determined.

Girls’ softball

The Blaine girls’ softball team lost the only game it played this week, 16-1 at home to Sedro-Woolley. The other game of the week against Burlington-Edison has been cancelled with a makeup date to be determined. The girls next face Mount Vernon in Skagit County on April 10.

Both track teams came away with a win against Lynden on March 29 at home. The girls won 81-46 and the boys won 90-42. The boys also beat Bellingham 80-55, but the girls lost 63-74. The next meet is the Eason Invite, set for April 14 at Snohomish High School.
