Blaine wrestlers muscle their way to first place at Mariner Holiday Classic

From the curtain jerker to the final match, Blaine wrestlers proved all-powerful at the Mariner Holiday Classic at Everett High School on Saturday, December 1. 

The Borderites won the 10-school meet, blasting by second-place Ferndale with 194 points to Ferndale’s 167.

Seven Blaine wrestlers reached their weight finals: Kyle Gonzales in the 106-lb. weight class, Billy Dodd (120-lbs.), Christian Sharp (145 lbs.), Justin Belding (152 lbs.), Jonathan Stewart (160 lbs.), Israel Hernandez (220 lbs.) and Michael Antzcak (285 lbs.).

Sharp, Belding, Stewart and Antzcak won their championship matches. Anthony Frey and Eddie Fontes came in third in the 132- and 145-lb. weight classes, respectively.

The Borderites traveled to Burlington-Edison High School Wednesday, December 5 for a double-dual meet (see results on our website). 

Blaine will host the annual Battle at the Border on Friday, December 7 and Saturday, December 8.
