Blaine seniors Katey Conway and Samantha Nault continued their dominant tennis performances in Monday’s 6-1 Northwest Conference victory over the Sedro-Woolley Cubs at Blaine high school.

In the stiffest competition they have faced this season, including the girls’ first opportunity to face the team that dethroned them as state champions, the Borderites won significant events at the Dick Bedlington Twilight Invitational at Lynden high school, Friday, March 26.

Everything was going so well for two and a half innings during the opening game of Alisa Burk’s coaching debut as the Borderites head softball coach.

Blaine’s boys track team added on to its undefeated regular season record while the girls team made a strong case for its pursuit of a second state team title in three years.

Shrugging off a sluggish start, Blaine’s sophomore sensation Ryan Wallen came back to fire a 76 and newcomer Michael Andes shot a 77 as the Borderites scored a 21-stroke team victory over six other Northwest conference teams to win the opening match at Skagit Valley Golf and Country Club Thursday, March 17.
