Fourth of July fireworks trash was scattered along Birch Bay before cleanup crews spent the morning of July 5 cleaning the garbage.
Birch Bay quickly became crowded with people lighting fireworks in celebration of Independence Day on July 4. Doralee Booth, county liaison for the Birch Bay Chamber of Commerce, said volunteers from the annual July 5 Birch Bay cleanup filled three 30-yard Sanitary Service Company drop boxes with trash. The weight of the garbage collected was not yet known, Booth said.
