Blaine Police Department reports: November 14-20

November 14, 1:44 a.m.: Officers working traffic enforcement observed a vehicle with expired registration. Officers stopped the vehicle and determined the driver did not possess a valid driver's license. Officers arrested, cited and released the individual with a mandatory court date. Officers gave the individual and his passenger a courtesy ride home. Officers cleared with no further incident.

November 14, 7:53 a.m.: An individual came out for a ride along for a school project.

November 14, 10:30 a.m.: A woman reported her estranged husband missing because she has not had any type of contact with him for almost two months, which is very abnormal. An Officer attempted to locate the husband, but had negative results. The husband was entered as a missing person.

November 14, 3:28 p.m.: An individual called about his ex-girlfriend taking his vehicle's battery. It was determined the girlfriend owns the vehicle and, they were in a dating relationship for six years. They both drive the vehicle. The individual was informed the matter is civil and needed to be handled through the courts.

November 14, 5:02 p.m.: Blaine police were informed by US Customs and Border Protection that a man attempting to get into Canada stashed a gun in the bushes somewhere in the 800 block of SR543. Officers searched the area but were not able to locate the firearm. Blaine police were later notified that the man was now detained at Customs after returning from Canada. The gun was located near a trash can just outside of a business. The man and his accomplice at the business were both arrested for reckless endangerment.

November 15, 1 a.m.: US Customs reported they were questioning a couple who entered the US from Canada and they discovered there was protection order in place which stated the male subject was not have any contact with the female subject. Officer determined the protection order was still in effect. Officer arrested the male subject for violation of a protection order. Arrestee was booked into the jail.

November 16, 1:58 p.m.: Blaine Police responded to the Blaine High School for a report of an ill student where alcohol consumption was suspected. Due to the nature of the illness police did not investigate the instance for criminal charges. Aid crews transported the patient to the hospital for evaluation.

November 16, 7:10 p.m.: Officers are investigating a non-injury, unattended hit and run. A B.C. vehicle struck a WA vehicle and left the scene. Royal Canadian Mounted Police was requested to contact the driver in B.C. The suspect driver provided his insurance information and denied knowledge of striking a vehicle. Charges possibly to follow upon review of video.

November 16, 7:30 p.m.: Officers responded to a report of harassment at a local residence. A group of juveniles were outside of a house yelling at the occupants and refusing to leave. Officers contacted the group who explained they were trying to get a cell phone from the brother of a friend inside the house. Officers facilitated getting the phone. No crime.

November 18, 8:45 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to a juvenile problem, which turned into a DV Malicious Mischief. Juvenile son head butted the parents ceiling causing a hole in about 12 inches in diameter. The juvenile was booked into the Whatcom County Juvenile Detention Center.

November 19, 8:48 a.m.: An individual called to report he hasn't spoken with his mother in about two weeks and requested a welfare check. Officers arrived and located the mother who stated her home phone isn't currently working. An Officer called the son and informed him his mother was doing fine. Officers cleared.

November 20, 9:35 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to a juvenile who punched a hole in the wall at the Blaine High School. Officers arrived and located the juvenile. It was later discovered he also made threats to kill people. The individual was arrested and booked into the Whatcom County Juvenile Detention Center.

November 20, 8:38 p.m.: Officers responded to the 500 block of Peace Portal Drive for a report of an individual who claimed his foot was run over and the bone was poking through the skin. Officers arrived and determined the individual was not in the area. After canvasing the area, officers cleared with no further incident.
