Cremation alternative for pets offered in Bellingham

Posted

Radiant Heart After-Care for Pets, a pet-only funeral home in Bellingham, is now offering liquid cremation as an alternative to traditional flame cremation for pet owners who are conscious of the environment.

“Flame cremation of one pet can produce the same amount of carbon dioxide as a 500-mile car ride,” said owner Bobbie Ruth Langley. “We believe water cremation will be an attractive option to pet parents who care about the environment.”

Liquid cremation consists of reducing remains to bone using water and alkali. According to the press release, instead of producing CO2 as with flame cremation, liquid cremation produces a by-product that can be released directly into the sewer system.

Langley raised $100,000 through business savings, an equipment loan and a personal loan, to pay for the new equipment. She estimates it has one-tenth of the carbon footprint of traditional cremation.

Radiant Heart After-Care for Pets is located at 801 West Orchard Drive, Suite 3, in Bellingham. To learn more about the business, visit radiant-heart.net, call 360/778-9578 or email info@radiant-heart.net.
