Daylight saving time ends Sunday, November 1

Posted

Don't forget to set your clocks back an hour this weekend – daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 1.

Falling back back to standard time will mean brighter mornings and darker afternoons. It’s also recommended that people use the change as a reminder to change the batteries in smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.

The state legislature passed a bill in 2019 to allow Washington to remain permanently on daylight saving time, but it needs congressional approval.

The states that currently forego the twice-annual time change, can do so because they stay on standard time, which is allowed under federal law.
