The Blaine Food Bank needs to raise about $3,000 by Friday, December 21 in order to receive a $30,000 match from an anonymous donor. Volunteer Joan Smith said approximately $27,000 has been raised since the fundraiser started in September.
“We are doing so well and [are] almost there with the matching grant fundraiser,” Smith said in an email. “What a wonderful community – we are having a great response.”
The Blaine Food Bank serves an average 400 families, or 1,500 individuals, out of its location at 500 C Street each week. More than 80,000 pounds of food are distributed each month.
Donations are accepted in the form of cash or check, by mail to P.O. Box 472 or in person at 500 C Street in Blaine.
