Learn how to protect and maintain your shoreline property at a workshop this weekend.

Northwest Straits Foundation and the Whatcom County Marine Resources Committee is hosting a free workshop from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 28 at the cannery lodge at Semiahmoo Park. Coastal geologist Jim Johannessen will explain how to manage beach and bluff erosion, enhance beach access and maintain slope stability and habitat.

A professional shoreline management professional will also be there and can arrange site visits to discuss how property owners can protect their property.

Event sponsor Whatcom County Marine Resources Committee is a citizen-led committee appointed by Whatcom County Council. The committee conducts restoration, conservation and education-based projects in the community. Co-sponsor Northwest Straits Foundation is a nonprofit organization that aims to protect and restore local marine resources.
