Young at heart: November

With the increasing chilliness of November comes a gathering closeness. Rain and winds may be brisk and chilly but there are heart-warming events and friendship in the Blaine Senior Activity Center.

The November birthday lunch will take place Thursday, November 13 at 11:30 a.m. with music by Bounty Hunter. Those born in November will be honored in their special month.

Saturday, November 15 from 8 to 11 a.m. will be the pancake breakfast. Pancakes, waffles, French toast, biscuits and gravy, orange juice and coffee will be waiting for your culinary pleasure. Friends and families will be here with their stimulating conversations. World War II veterans will enjoy a free delicious breakfast.

The eighth annual Homemade Arts and Crafts Christmas Bazaar will be held on Friday and Saturday, December 5 and 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Over 30 craft-makers will be participating in this great show; there will be a cookie lane, deli lunch, a visit from Santa Claus on Saturday and much more. Don’t miss this important traditional event.

The center also offers many ongoing events. Maybe you would like to play Ping-Pong. Perhaps your body would benefit from conditioning with Tai Chi, stretch and fitness exercise or weight training. Or maybe you’d prefer taking part in a painting class, games such as Bunco or arts and crafts.

Enjoy colorful November, with its bright leaves, and the silvery, shivery rain. Come to the equally colorful Blaine Senior Center. We will be waiting for you, so don’t miss the fun.
