County residents have less than one day, really about 10 hours, to get their primary election ballots in before tonight's deadline.

Blaine city hall will house a ballot drop-off box until 8 this evening. The county courthouse in Bellingham is also accepting ballots through a drive-up ballot box until 8 p.m. The Whatcom County Auditor's office is expecting to have the earliest voter returns by about 8:30 p.m. (they work quickly, don't they?). According to the county auditor's website, 29,725 ballots have been returned so far.

I will try my best to update The Northern Light's Facebook and Twitter accounts and The Northern Light's website as election totals come in, but I also have a forum on the Gateway Pacific Terminal to cover this evening. I believe the forum's venue, Birch Bay Bible Community Church on Jackson Road, has wireless Internet access so I will try to lug my laptop along with me.

Stay tuned!
