RV fire on I-5 snarls northbound traffic

Fire crews from North Whatcom Fire and Rescue responded to the fire after a 911 call was made at 8:53 Wednesday morning, a representative from the Washington State Patrol said. The 32-foot long RV spontaneously caught fire while traveling northbound on I-5 just south of exit 274. No injuries were reported.
Fire crews spent a little more than an hour fighting the blaze, the smoke from which could be seen from miles away. The fire closed both lanes of I-5 northbound near mile marker 273 and caused a backup that stretched a few miles south. Click here to see a photo of the gutted RV.
