North Whatcom Fire and Rescue (NWFR) officials have delayed the regular board of fire commissioners meeting one week due to weather.

The January 19 NWFR board meeting has been rescheduled to Thursday, January 26 at 7 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Fire District 4 station at 4142 Britton Loop Road in Bellingham.

One of the items on the meeting agenda is a decision on where the consolidated administration offices for NWFR and District 4 should be located. If the board decides to move the offices from NWFR station 63 on Birch Bay-Lynden Road, they will be relocated to the District 4 Britton Loop Road station in Bellingham.

As I reported here, the shift of administration offices was the source of some disagreement between the NWFR board and then-fire-chief Tom Fields. Commissioners were concerned driving to Bellingham to talk to NWFR administration would be too much of a hassle for most people living in Birch Bay, but Fields offered assurance that NWFR officials would be willing to drive to Birch Bay to address community issues.
