Petition submitted to up speed limit on stretch of Drayton Harbor Road

Roughly six dozen Blaine and Birch Bay residents have signed on to a petition requesting the speed limit on a section of Drayton Harbor Road from 25 mph to 35 be increased from 25 mph to 35.

Birch Bay could benefit from county’s $400,000 for local tourism promotions

The Mt. Baker Foothills Chamber of Commerce is asking the Whatcom County Council to approve a $400,000 contract that could result in increased tourism promotions for Birch Bay and the foothills area.

BBWARM will not be source of funding for Birch Bay public restrooms

The advisory committee of the Birch Bay Watershed and Aquatic Resource Management (BBWARM) district has announced it will not be providing funding for public restrooms in the Birch Bay area.

RV fire on I-5 snarls northbound traffic

An RV that caught fire backed up traffic on northbound I-5 for at least an hour just south of Blaine Wednesday morning.

City to hold public hearing on purchase of Banner Bank building

Blaine City Council is one vote away from approving the purchase of the Banner Bank building, a move that will eventually lead to Blaine City Hall moving from its aged spot on H Street.
