Blaine residents supported park and recreation levy more than Birch Bay did

Signs supporting the Northwest Park and Recreation District #2 levy are still a common site around Blaine and Birch Bay, but the most recent ballot numbers show the levy is failing by just less than five percent.

County auditor data: Ericksen, Larson leading in Blaine, Birch Bay areas

Jack Louws and outgoing Whatcom County Executive Pete Kremen may be leading in their respective positions countywide, but both candidates would have been defeated if the election was limited to Blaine and Birch Bay.

Secretary of State: 21,000 voters may not have received ballots by mail

The Washington Secretary of State announced yesterday that about 21,000 voters and/or potential voters who registered to vote or changed their addresses via the Department of Licensing (DOL) website may not have received their ballots in the mail.
