Blaine planning staff are recommending zoning changes to land between D Street and the truck route, and the city’s planning commission is asking for public comment on the proposed changes.

Kidney failure killed Steller sea lion found dead in Point Roberts

An older male Steller sea lion that seemed to have taken up residence at Lighthouse Marine Park in Point Roberts was found dead earlier this month, reportedly due to kidney failure.

School board to consider putting levy renewal on February 2012 ballot

The Blaine school district’s four-year maintenance and operations levy is up for renewal, and the school board will decide whether or not it will go on the February 2012 ballot at its October 24 meeting.

County council approves 2012 road construction program

The Whatcom County Council has approved the county’s 2012 road construction program, and four projects in the Birch Bay area have topped the list.
