Cross country team hosts LC and Sehome

In the Borderites’ only home meet of the season, both boys and girls teams fell to Lynden Christian and Sehome, but a few runners put forth strong individual showings.XC-1

Hillary Kiele ran the 5k course at Peace Arch Park in 20:48.72, which earned her second place out of 44 girls.

“She looked composed and steady the whole way through,” said Paul Wood, a Canadian runner from White Rock who often watches the races at Peace Arch Park. “She had a solid race.”

Freshman Sophia Dwyer ran a 22:45.72 to place 12th in the girls run, setting a personal record.

On the boys side, Parker Morris led the way for Blaine, with a time of 18:04.35. Morris placed eight out of 82 runners. Charlie Baldwin ran a 19:01.2, good for 21st place.

Blaine’s next race is at the Mt. Baker Invite at Silver Lake on Saturday, September 27. The meet begins at 11 a.m.
