Port authorizes $89,900 economic development study for the Point

Port of Bellingham commissioners OKed a contract between the Port and Maul, Foster & Alongi Inc. (MFA) to conduct an economic development study of Point Roberts at their regular commission meeting on November 5. The contract would run until September 2025 and would examine current conditions, adverse factors holding back economic growth and strategies to overcome problems.
The report will be presented at the Point Roberts Chamber of Commerce’s annual general meeting and social on Thursday, November 14, 6 p.m. at Kiniski’s Reef Tavern. Elliott Smith, director of real estate at the Port and Point Roberts resident, will be making the presentation. MFA is a multi-state based consulting company that has done a number of projects for the Point in the past. It is currently working on an industrial lands strategy as part of the Port and county’s updating of the county’s comprehensive plan.
The project will include three community meetings to present findings and solicit input at different steps along the way which would culminate in a final report that would be issued by September 2025. The report is available below.
