Track athletes head to Granite Falls

Twelve track and field athletes and two relay teams qualified for the 1A district 1/2 championship meet Thursday, May 19 and Saturday, May 21 in Granite Falls after earning a spot last week at the 1A district 1 meet at Lynden Christian High School.

Eleeshiyah Faulkner, Brielle Solomon, Brazil Moreno, Deja Dube, Paige Linhares, Taeya Marshall, Madeleine Ernst, Mayako Periera, Makenna Lausier, Preston Bushman, Colby Shipp and Beckum Bleazard will compete in their individual events. Myca Andruscavage and Kylie Lovrich were placed as alternates. 

The boys 4-by-100 and 4-by-400 teams also qualified.

Faulkner had a standout performance at the district championship in both the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles, winning both events.

Both relay teams and individual athletes will compete with a chance of qualifying for the 1A state championship May 26-May 28 at Eastern Washington
University.
