Drayton Harbor Road utility work delayed

Posted

Whatcom County Public Works Department has delayed utility work that was scheduled to close Drayton Harbor Road and create intermittent lane closures in mid-May.

Public works had previously announced that Drayton Harbor Road would be closed to both lanes of traffic at Shintaffer Road as crews moved overhead utilities during the day from Monday, May 5 through Friday, May 9. Intermittent lane closures were also planned during the week of Monday, May 12.

Project engineer Eric Vavra said public works needed to confirm last minute details before moving forward with the repairs. There is not a date rescheduled for the utility lines to be moved, he added.

The work was part of the Drayton Harbor Landslide Repair project, which is fixing damage that occurred during the November 2021 floods and has since closed the westbound lane of traffic.
