Celebrate the beauty of North America with Blaine Arts Council in July during its juried show, “From Sea to Shining Sea,” which opens on Saturday.
The show will feature 69 pieces of art from 40 artists from all over the country in a variety of media, including watercolor paintings, photographs, collages and more.
Typically, BAC’s gallery showcases member artwork only, except for three juried shows each year: one in March, one in July and one in October. Any artist may submit work to be considered for the juried shows, and this one will feature the work of artists from far and wide.
“We have New York and South Carolina and North Carolina and Florida,” BAC board President Margaret Owens said of the various states artists have submitted work from. “We’ve got Colorado and Michigan and Texas.”
Owens said with the show beginning just after the Fourth of July, “From Sea to Shining Sea” seemed an appropriate theme.
“It’s giving people the opportunity to really showcase what they consider to be special about where they’re at,” Owens said.
July 4 marked BAC’s second anniversary, and to celebrate America’s 250th, it is hosting a raffle to win one of five original pieces of art.
The raffle runs July 4 through 11, and tickets may be purchased online for $10 for one ticket or $20 for three. Buy tickets and view the art for raffle at bit.ly/3TjC276.
An opening reception for the show runs 4 to 6:30 p.m. July 11 with baked goods from L&L Bakery and wine. Raffle winners will be selected; attendance is not required to win.
The gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, and the show will run through Sunday, Aug. 9, at Blaine Art Gallery, 922 Peace Portal Drive.
