Hands Across the Border takes place June 10

Posted

One of the area’s most peaceful traditions is set to take place on Sunday, June 10.

Called ‘Hands Across the Border,’ the event started in 1937 during an Armistice Day celebration between the U.S. and Canada.

The event has taken place  for several years since then at Peace Arch state and provincial parks. Canadian and American scout troops are encouraged to attend.

Between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., guests can browse vendor booths, take part in a scavenger hunt, view history exhibits and much more. At 11 a.m., scouts will participate in an welcome and opening ceremony and at 1:30 p.m. will join in a parade.

More than 250 campers have already signed up to camp at Marine Park for Hands Across the Border Camp, which will take place Friday to Sunday, June 8-10.

Hands Across the Border is hosted by the International Peace Arch Association. To learn more, visit handsacrosstheborder.info.
